XV4Y - Yannick

I have been licensed from 1994 when I was in high school. I prepare the examination with the help of F6GUB and F9ZS at the F6KKU radio-club near Lille, my hometown in the North of France. My first contact with HAM radio was thanks to my uncle Jean-Claude F1GUM who provided me a VHF handheld for listening.

During years my main activities was oriented toward digital modes and sometime contests with friends (F5CDF, F1TUM, F1TYV...).

When I get my first job as ENIC Telecom Engineer in 2000 I was not able to operate. Since when, I almost had to wait until 2009 to have a fully functionnal shack.

This time it is where my wife and I decided to live : Can Tho in the Mekong Delta.

Now I am interesting in DX (quality, not quantity), antenna experimentation and QRP kits (BitX, SoftRock, QRSS...).
